Volunteer Halton

Community Development Halton (CDH) is an independent organization focused on supporting the over 1000+ nonprofit and voluntary sector organizations in Halton.

We do this by engaging with our community to address issues and ensure their voices are heard by local decision-makers, policy developers, and governments.

CDH is comprised of Volunteer Halton, the volunteer centre, and Social Planning and Research Halton. Together we have been serving Halton Region since 1984.

Connecting community is what we do.

The act of volunteering is found in all cultures, languages, and religions.  Each year, thousands of Halton residents volunteer their time and skills to help make our community a better place. When they volunteer, they help improve the lives of others;  they also gain a greater sense of belonging to Halton Region and their local community.

Here at Volunteer Halton, we envision a Region where volunteerism is accessible, inclusive, and valued, contributing to community well-being and engagement.

Through Volunteer Halton we provide:

1. Capacity building workshops for community groups, and nonprofits.
2. A volunteer database for volunteer seekers to find opportunities to get involved in their community.
3. Recognition programs for organizations to celebrate the impact and importance of volunteers in realizing their mission.
4. Support for civic engagement and community development in Halton.
5. Consultations and customized training for the nonprofit sector.
6. Other events and activities to support a strong nonprofit sector in Halton.
