Hackathon Planning Team Medical Science - Volunteer

STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

Location: Remote
Time commitment: 2 meetings per week, 30 minutes (days and times TBD by group); 1-2 hours per week planning and execution.

Description: The person in charge of organizing the Medical Science Hackathon is tasked with developing and carrying out a captivating event centered on groundbreaking healthcare ideas. This position includes creating the event's theme, working with healthcare professionals, and overseeing logistics to ensure attendees have an engaging and successful event. A strong event planning background and a passion for advancing medical science through problem-solving are required for the ideal candidate.

Key Responsibilities:
•	Create and conceptualize the theme and obstacles for the medical science hackathon, with a focus on pioneering healthcare solutions.
•	Collaborate with healthcare professionals and experts in the field to act as mentors and judges, guaranteeing a well-informed and encouraging panel.
•	In order to boost participant involvement and knowledge acquisition, plan the event schedule carefully with workshops, keynote speakers, and hackathon sessions.
•	Manage registration for participants, formation of teams, and submission of projects to guarantee a smooth experience for all attendees.
•	Make sure that essential resources like virtual platforms, tools, and datasets are available to help participants with their project development.
•	Market the hackathon to draw in a wide range of participants and sponsors by utilizing different marketing tactics.
•	Work together with vendors, sponsors, and partners to obtain backing and supplies for the event.
•	Make sure that safety and privacy regulations are followed during the entire event.
•	Gather and assess feedback and performance data after the event to enhance upcoming hackathons.

Requirements:
•	Background in organizing events, managing projects, or a similar field, specifically in the healthcare or medical science industry.
•	Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
•	Solid grasp of healthcare innovation and new advancements in medical technologies.
•	Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and develop innovative strategies.
•	Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
•	Passion for STEM education and commitment to promoting STEM literacy and application.
•	Cultural sensitivity and ability to engage with a diverse global audience.
