Web Developer (volunteer)

STEM Canada is a registered not-for-profit global program that specializes in an advanced, bar-none STEM-based educational curriculum that emphasizes the interconnected subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The STEM program is open to all students from preschool to high school with the mission to deliver top-notch STEM literacy and application, designed to teach students in the STEM fields, yielding globally competitive results.

Location: Remote
Time commitment: 6 hours a week

Description: We are looking for a talented and determined Web Developer to join our team in a virtual volunteering position. In this position, you will assist in the design, creation, and upkeep of our company's website and web applications. While working from a distance, you will team up with colleagues to improve our online visibility and guarantee a smooth user experience.

Key Responsibilities:
•	Create, build, and execute website elements and capabilities according to project specifications and user requirements.
•	Create code that is tidy, effective, and easy to maintain for front-end and back-end development.
•	Identify and fix website problems such as bugs, performance issues, and compatibility problems.
•	Work together with designers, content creators, and team members to guarantee seamless web design and content incorporation.
•	Update your website regularly by implementing content updates, security patches, and feature improvements.
•	Improve website performance by enhancing load times, responsiveness, and accessibility.
•	Track and evaluate website traffic and user actions, offering suggestions for enhancements.
•	Participate in virtual meetings to provide updates on web development projects and receive feedback
•	Keep updated on the newest trends, tools, and best practices in web development to constantly improve your skills and the functionality of your website.

Requirements:
•	Proven experience as a Web Developer or similar role, with a strong portfolio of successful web developing campaigns.
•	Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
•	Experience in web development, with a strong understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies.
•	Experience with web development frameworks and content management systems such as WordPress and Drupal.
•	Creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box.
•	Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
•	Passion for STEM education and commitment to promoting STEM literacy and application.
•	Having an understanding of web design principles and the best practices for user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design is advantageous.
•	Cultural sensitivity and ability to engage with a diverse global audience.
