A Dementia Friendly Visitor
Objective: To deliver client-specific recreation activities and social opportunities to persons living with dementia (PLWD) in the home. The aim is to stimulate memory and improve confidence and overall quality of life while providing a weekly break for both the individual and the caregiver. Qualities and Skills: Friendly Ability to build relationships Comfortable working with boundaries in a 1:1 program Trainings (you will receive): Volunteer Orientation Session AODA certificate training Alzeducate (volunteer modules) Position-specific training Dementia Education Benefits: Develop new skills. Meet new people. Give back to your community. Create meaningful connections. Gain knowledge about dementia. Gain supports in achieving your goals. Boundaries: No provision of advice or recommendations on treatment, healthcare professional or any medical information. No breach in confidentiality with anyone other than Alzheimer Society staff, when necessary. Do not share personal contact information with clients. Commitment: 2hrs/week Location: Milton, Oakville, Georgetown and / or Burlington Preliminary Screening: Application: https://alzda.ca/volunteer/ Two references Police Record / Vulnerable Sector Check Confidentiality agreement Conflict of interest agreement Supervision and Ongoing Screening: This positions reports to, and is directed by, the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator.
