Financial Officer, Burlington Green Party

3-8 hours / monthly
2 year term or longer if desired.
As a financial volunteer for the Burlington Green Party (political party), you would be involved as Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer in managing the bank accounts for the Constituency Association (CA) and Riding Association (RA), purchasing and making payment for items required and purchased, managing fundraising accounts, preparing budgets, preparing and filing financial reports as prescribed by the governments of Ontario and Canada for political parties, and reporting financial status at monthly executive meetings. Ensuring the organization is complying with all legal and regulatory requirements. Demonstrating a commitment to the organization's mission and vision. During your first year there would be extensive training and shadowing the incumbent opportunities.
Additional Details & Skills Required
The volunteer with be working in a supportive committee milieu. The exiting CFO will work alongside you to provide training and guidance. It takes one year to go through all the reports that must be prepared so that in your second year you will be prepared for filing and reporting. While most work can be done remotely, as a member of the Executive, you would be expected to meet face to face with other members occasionally and to participate in planned events with other members and volunteers.
Certification or Education Required
Financial or accounting experience or education is helpful but not necessary.
