Volunteer Tax Preparer
Ongoing
The Suri Foundation is participating in the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) to host free tax clinics to help eligible people file their taxes. Filing a tax return helps people get the benefit and credit payments they are entitled to. We are recruiting volunteers to help complete income tax returns at free tax clinics in Oakville/Burlington with possibility to work remotely. The responsibilities include completing taxes for people who meet the eligibility criteria (adults aged 65 years and older, individuals experiencing housing insecurity, Indigenous Peoples, individuals with a modest income, newcomers), a modest income and a simple tax situation. You will work closely with other team members, beneficiaries, and community partners to deliver professional services that align with The Suri Foundation's mission.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteering as a Tax Preparer under the CRA Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) provides meaningful rewards, professional growth, and opportunities to make a lasting impact. Although the role is unpaid, volunteers gain several practical, career-building, and personal benefits that can be extremely valuable including: 1. Government-Recognized Training & Certification 2. Hands-On Experience Preparing Tax Returns 3. Direct Community Impact 4. Personal Fulfillment & Purpose
