Children’s Program Volunteer

Burnaby / New Westminster, BC [map]
3-4 hours / weekly

Description: 
Volunteers will work together with staff taking care of children from 18 months to 5 years-old in a multicultural environment to support their parents who are taking educational or parenting programs at the same site. Volunteers will assist staff in setting up the playroom with activities, cleaning up and preparing snack for the children.  They will also interact with children, attending to the children’s needs, such as, reading and playing together. 

Location and hours: 
• Edmonds Neighborhood Resource Centre/ 7355 Canada Way, Burnaby

Program hours varies depending on schedule and location. 

Skills and Experience: 
• Feel comfortable around young children 0-6 years 
• Must enjoy interacting with small children and families   
• Cultural sensitivity and experience working with people from diverse cultures will be an asset 
• Knowledge about community resources will be an asset 
• Ability to speak languages other than English will also be an asset  
• Food safety certificate preferred
