Family Resource Programs Volunteer

BFL offers Family Resource Programs for families with children, 0-6 years, where they spend a fun-filled time together while learning through play in a safe and welcoming space. Parents/caregivers also have an opportunity to socialize and meet, other families while receiving support, information and resources from BFL staff. Volunteers will assist staff in setting up the playroom with age appropriate activities, cleaning up after the program is over and preparing snacks for the children. Under supervision, they will interact with the children and families from diverse cultures by creating a safe, clean, welcoming and inclusive environment. Skills and Experience: • Feel comfortable around young children 0-6 years • Must enjoy interacting with small children and families • Cultural sensitivity and experience working with people from diverse cultures will be an asset • knowledge about community resource will be an asset • Ability to speak languages other than English will also be an asset • Food safety certificate preferred Time commitment and Locations • One volunteer shift per week (2 - 2,5 h) consecutively for 2,5 - 3 months between 9.30 - 11.30am or 12.30 - 2.30pm • McKercher Location (6140 McKercher Avenue) or Edmonds (7355 Canada Way) Benefits to Volunteer: • This position is suitable for ECE students • To gain experience working with young children • Will receive a Certificate of Appreciation with total service hours for the contribution • Bus tickets provided if required For more information please visit: https://www.burnabyfamilylife.org/volunteer Apply online: https://www.burnabyfamilylife.org/volunteer-1
