Farsi Language Interpreter

We are seeking Farsi-speaking volunteers to support our Distribution team. In this role, you will facilitate Farsi translations between clients and our staff. Your primary responsibility is to provide accurate and unbiased translations during client registration and information update appointments. You should love connecting with people and have strong interpersonal skills that allow you to interact compassionately with individuals of diverse backgrounds.  

Age requirement: 18+

Responsibilities: 

*Create a positive and welcoming experience for clients;
*Actively, listen, and facilitate effective communication;
*Providing impartial and unbiased translation between GVFB staff and clients;  
*Translate conversations clearly and accurately, ensuring all information is conveyed correctly;
*Sharing general interpretations about policy and appointment bookings with clients;
*Follow all organizational guidelines and protocols related to translation services and client interactions;
*Handle all personal and sensitive information with confidentiality and respect, adhering to privacy guidelines.

Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience:

*Active listening skills;
*Ability to sit for 4 hours; 
*Ability to stand for 4 hours;  
*Fluent in speaking English and able to comprehend instructions in English; 
*Proficient in speaking Farsi;
*Ability to communicate with others tactfully; 
*Experience related to language interpretation, social services, or customer service is an asset.

Shift Times: 
*Friday – 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm

Commitment: Weekly shift for 3 months with an opportunity to extend.
