Board of Directors – Exploratory / Founding Stage
Ongoing
Accessible Assessments is an emerging Alberta-based non-profit focused on addressing the rising cost and inaccessibility of psychological and psychoeducational assessments. Many individuals and families are currently priced out of assessments that are required for education, employment, benefits, and basic diagnostic clarity. This organization is being developed to explore ethical, lower-cost, and more efficient ways to provide these services without compromising clinical standards. We are at an early, exploratory stage and are inviting expressions of interest from individuals who may be open to contributing to initial conversations and idea development. This is not yet a formal board appointment; rather, it is an opportunity to help shape the direction of the organization as it takes form. Who May Be a Good Fit Interest is welcomed from individuals with experience or interest in one or more of the following areas: -Registered psychology or assessment-related practice -Non-profit leadership, governance, or board service -Health, education, social services, or public systems -Financial, legal, or organizational development expertise Prior board experience is helpful but not required. A thoughtful, ethical, and collaborative approach is most important. Time Commitment -Low and flexible at this stage -Occasional meetings or conversations (virtual) -No formal obligations at this time This is a volunteer role during the exploratory phase. Why Participate This is an opportunity to contribute to a values-driven initiative at its earliest stage, help think through how access barriers can be reduced in a responsible way, and be part of shaping a non-profit model that prioritizes affordability, dignity, and quality. Expressing Interest Individuals who are interested in learning more or participating in early conversations are invited to reach out with a brief note outlining their background and interest.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
There is no obligation beyond participation, and the value is primarily in influence, learning, and contributing to a cause many people see as overdue. Future formal board or advisory roles if the organization develops further.
