AfroCare Support Network is a non-profit community-based organization dedicated to supporting African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) individuals in Calgary through health education, outreach, and resource distribution. We focus on issues such as HIV/AIDS awareness, stigma reduction, and mental health support, helping to break down barriers to healthcare and improve the well-being of people living within the ACB community. Position Summary: AfroCare Support Network is seeking a creative and motivated volunteer Social Media Content Manager to help manage and grow our online presence. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social justice, community building, and health education, with a knack for creating engaging content across various social media platforms. This volunteer will play a key role in strengthening AfroCare's mission and expanding our outreach efforts through digital engagement. Key Responsibilities: • Develop, curate, and schedule engaging and relevant content (posts, graphics, videos, etc.) across AfroCare’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.). • Stay updated on social media trends and apply best practices to enhance content performance. • Design and execute social media campaigns that raise awareness about AfroCare’s programs, events, and initiatives (e.g., HIV/AIDS awareness, stigma reduction, support programs and well-being groups). • Interact with followers by responding to comments, messages, and mentions in a timely and professional manner. • Build relationships with key influencers, partner organizations, and community members to enhance AfroCare’s reach. • Track social media performance metrics (e.g., engagement rates, followers’ growth, reach, etc.) and provide quarterly reports • Use analytics to suggest improvements and optimize content strategy. • Assist in developing and refining AfroCare’s social media strategy to maximize impact and engagement. Skills and Qualifications: • Strong understanding of various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and their best practices. • Creative skills in writing, storytelling, and designing visually appealing content (experience with Canva or similar tools is a plus). • Basic knowledge of social media analytics and ability to interpret performance data. • Interest or background in health education, social justice, or community development (experience working with marginalized communities is a plus). • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate effectively with a team. • Experience in social media content creation or management (volunteer, internship, or professional experience is a plus).
