Board Member - Treasurer
Adult Recreational Choir Society (ARCS) is a registered not for profit, non-auditioned group of choirs that is located in Calgary, Alberta that has been in operation for over 20 years and is looking for a treasurer to join their Board of Directors’ executive for a 2-year term. The Board meets monthly throughout the year with the exception of July, and works together to lead the organization with an Executive Director and Artistic Director, both whom report to the Board. ARCS is looking for a Treasurer to sit on their board for a minimum term of two years, with possibility for additional terms. The Treasurer is responsible for the Fund Development and Fundraising subcommittees as well as the Finance Committee, which puts together an annual budget, oversees the investment portfolio and is an active and engaging Board Member. Other duties include but are not limited to: - Oversee the annual budget preparation and present it to the Board of Directors for Approval - Review financial statements, bank reconciliations and other statements as requested - Oversee the investment portfolio of the organization - Work closely with other members of the Board and Chair the Finance Committee which is meant to support the functions of the organization. The Finance Committee is also responsible for sponsorship and fundraising subcommittees. Other Board Committees are: - Governance - Membership - HR - Strategic Leadership: Support the development of strategic initiatives that align with multi-year strategic plans - Act as a Representative of the organization at performances, our annual Spotlight fundraiser and other official functions as required. - Attend monthly 2-3 hour board working meetings, usually held the 3rd Monday of the month, twice yearly strategic and leadership meetings, finance meetings and other training ad hoc. Certification or Education Required
Proven senior level financial leadership experience, a CPA is an asset Previous Board experience is an asset Strong strategic planning and execution skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Fundraising and philanthropy background desirable.
