Ongoing
Repair Exchanges, sometimes called Repair Cafes, are special events where neighbours can help neighbours keep their items out of the landfill and in use. This can include sewing patches, repairing zippers, fixing a hair dryer plug, or replacing a small appliance plug. People will experience the satisfaction of fixing things, meet like-minded people, and help those that can't fix items themselves. Repair Exchanges are City of Calgary funded community development events which will take place at community associations and other community agencies.
Certification or Education Required
No formal training is needed, only personal experience in repairing fabrics or electrical items.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteer Fixers empower others to repair items while meeting like-minded Calgarians reducing waste and the cost of buying new items.
