Secretary of the Board

We are looking for a professional to join our Board: Lawyer, Legal Specialist, Physician, Accountant or person with lived experience as a Parent or family member of children at risk for or with neurodiversity--autism, ADHD, FASD, LD, ID, mental health concerns, medical complexity, mental health concerns, or other disorders. Directors of the Board meet quarterly for 2 hours and annually at the 2-hour Annual General Meeting and 3-hour Strategic Planning Meeting and Volunteer Family Acknowledgement Lunch. The Directors of the Board also attend two benefit events where awareness is raised about how we transform family distress into relief using video-stories, technology and mentorship. The Secretary, Officer of the Board, organises board meetings, takes minutes, manages correspondence, coordinates updates and background information required by the board and federal/provincial corporate offices, and keeps membership records. The Secretary ensures that their reports are transparent and accurate, shows progress of assigned tasks and duties, highlights issues that need to be escalated to the board, delivers information to support the board's decision-making, provides information about new technology or thinking from outside people/groups that could help the charity achieve its goals. Each Director of the Board, including the Secretary, also supports or chairs one or more working committees composed of volunteers who advance the mission for neurodiverse children and their families. Committee work ranges from Community Engagement, Fundraising Events, Digital Marketing, Administration/Management, to name a few. Visit our webpage for all Committees: https://budsinbloom.org/committees/ All Directors and Officers must reside full time in Canada; preference will be given to applicants in Calgary, Alberta to facilitate in person meetings. That being said, all formal, mandatory meetings are hybrid, allowing for flexibility to join online. Why volunteer for Buds in Bloom? Flexible schedule; great cause!
