Calgary Association of Freelance Editors (CAFE)

The Calgary Association of Freelance Editors (CAFE) is a professional association promoting and developing freelance editors in Calgary and area. CAFE began in 1989 with a small group of editors as a forum to exchange information about editing. In 1998, it was officially incorporated as a society. In 2014, CAFE celebrated 25 years in the community!
The CAFE membership is comprised of primarily freelance editors, but also in-house editors, different kinds of writers (copywriters, bloggers, journalists), translators, and other professionals that have a communications (editing/writing) aspect to their job such as with public relations and document management, to name a few. CAFE’s membership is a diverse group of people with a variety of talents and expertise.
Over 70 members and over 200 friends, affiliates and organizations from the editing, writing, and literary community at large are invited to CAFE’s programs and activities. CAFE programs provide a mix of learning, networking, and social opportunities—social get-togethers; organized tours; academic forums such as panel discussions and roundtables; skills-based working groups and workshops; and guest speakers and lectures.
