***Volunteers need to be competent skiers or snowboarders.***
***Certification is not necessary. We offer training to our volunteer instructors.***
Sharing a great volunteer opportunity to skiers ⛷️and snowboarders🏂. We teach adaptive ski and snowboard lessons to about 130 students and each student skis with 2 volunteer instructors: one experienced instructor and one newer instructor who can ski and is willing to learn and be a support. Optional 2 nights a week training for instructors before the holiday break. After the break we start 8 weeks of lessons with students on Sunday evenings and offer an optional session for instructor training on Thursday evenings. Volunteers pay an annual membership fee of $56.50 to cover insurance and lift tickets. Must be 15 years old to volunteer. Posting now because we really need a few more volunteers for this season so we don’t have to turn any students away. Please SHARE with your skier and snowboarder friends. Act now so you don’t miss our Dec. 1 training day! See our website cadscalgary.ca or contact us for more info. info@cadscalgary.ca
Additional Details & Skills Required
Although the training is optional, it is a an extremely valuable opportunity to take advantage of. Coming to training in December also allows the group supervisors to match volunteers with students and partner instructors for the lessons in January.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
There is no better way to end your weekend and start the new week than spend Sunday evenings teaching skiing or snowboarding to people with disabilities. Volunteer members pay a membership fee that covers insurance and lift tickets and we offer optional training to our volunteers from CSIA and CADS certified instructors. If you love to ski or snowboard and have a couple of hours free on Sunday evenings January to March, CADS Calgary needs you and promises it will be a good time!
