The Volunteer Coordinator for the Canadian Islamic Information Centre (CIIC) will recruit, train, and manage a team of dedicated volunteers to support CIIC’s programs and events. This role involves organizing volunteer orientations, assigning roles based on skills and interests, and providing ongoing support and recognition. The Volunteer Coordinator will also manage volunteer schedules, oversee training initiatives, and foster a sense of community through team-building activities. With responsibilities including event coordination and performance evaluation, this role offers an opportunity to develop leadership skills, enhance community engagement, and contribute meaningfully to CIIC’s mission of serving the community. Key Responsibilities Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding: Develop and execute strategies to recruit dedicated volunteers. Organize and lead volunteer orientations to familiarize recruits with CIIC’s mission and values. Volunteer Management: Maintain a database of volunteers, tracking skills, availability, and contributions. Assign volunteers to roles based on their interests and expertise. Provide ongoing support, guidance, and recognition to ensure volunteer satisfaction. Event Coordination: Work closely with the CIIC team to determine volunteer needs for events and programs. Coordinate scheduling and ensure adequate volunteer coverage for all activities. Training and Development: Provide or arrange for training to prepare volunteers for their roles. Organize skill-building workshops or activities to enhance volunteer competencies. Evaluation and Reporting: Monitor volunteer performance and gather feedback to improve processes. Prepare reports on volunteer engagement and program outcomes for CIIC leadership. Community Engagement: Act as a liaison between volunteers and the CIIC leadership team. Foster a sense of community among volunteers through team-building activities and events. Qualifications Strong organizational and leadership skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency with digital tools like Google Workspace and volunteer management software. Experience in volunteer coordination, event planning, or community engagement (preferred, but not required). Passion for CIIC’s mission and commitment to community service.
