Volunteer Job Description 
Overview
This program allows youth with disabilities to truly feel like gymnasts. Each class is tailored to the special needs of these individuals and is facilitated by an instructor with support of physical therapist. It combines physical therapy with the opportunity to experience something new and is sure to boost confidence and self-esteem! 

•	Training on how to work with the child is provided by a qualified therapist.
•	You may work with several children throughout the program.
•	You will assist the therapist in making the child’s experience memorable.
•	Be playful and engaged. 

Time Commitment and location
•	5.15 - 6.45 pm -  Wednesdays at the South Edmonton Gymnastique & Ninja Centre, 5140 – 67 Avenue, Edmonton, from March 5 - April 23, 2025

Requirements
•	Must be 18 years-old or older. 
•	Excellent communication skills.
•	Knowledge in gymnastics an asset, but not required.
•	Be committed and have excellent time keeping.
•	Be aware of on-site Health & Safety requirements.
•	You are required to provide a current and clear Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector check. (See below).

Screening
•	Fill out our volunteer application. 
•	Provide a Criminal Reference check including a Vulnerable Sector Check:
Every volunteer needs to file an ONLINE application with the police service which comprises of a police check and vulnerable sector check.  You will receive an email from the Edmonton Police Service to get this underway, there will be no charge to you.

Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteers will gain valuable experience and knowledge how to interact with people with disabilities, will be working under supervision of physiotherapist and gymnastics coach. Our Volunteers appreciate the most that they are making lifelong influence on the children's' lives, by encouraging, supporting and motivating. Some of our volunteers are also making life long friendships either with fellow volunteers or the families. This is a life changing opportunity for all involved!
