Learn 2 Ride volunteers needed!
Would you like to get some exercise AND help disabled kids learn how to ride their adapted bikes? CP Kids & Families is offering an INDOOR Learn 2 Ride program this winter! We will gather at the indoor track at Mount Royal University to help children with disabilities learn how to ride their adapted bikes in a fun and inclusive environment. Volunteers are paired with participants, usually one on one. All volunteers will receive training and be supervised by an experienced coach. Our participants range from 3 - 18 years old and are either neurodiverse or have physical challenges. During the session, volunteers motivate and accompany the participants during the activity, ensuring safety at all times. After the session, volunteers will participate in a debrief to learn from each other. Depending on the skill level of the participants, volunteers will either walk or run alongside the participants. Suitable pairings will be thoroughly considered. We ask volunteers to commit to all 5 sessions of the block you're signing up for so we can provide a more predictable situation for our participants. *Block 1A: Sundays, January 5 - February 2, 1:30- 2:30pm *Block 1B: Sundays, January 5 - February 2, 2:45 - 3:45pm *Block 2A: Sundays, March 16 - April 13, 1:30- 2:30pm *Block 2B: Sundays, March 16 - April 13, 2:45 - 3:45pm Volunteers must be at least 17 years old.
