Create Kids Fest is recruiting Board Volunteers responsible for spreading the word about our events and programming using social media, email marketing and print materials as well as participating in governance of the organization, planning and executing activities throughout the year, and strategic planning. About Create Kids Fest “Folk festivals are organized by folk artists and fans. Jazz festivals are organized by jazz artists and fans. So naturally kids and their fans should organize Create Kids Fest!” -Mandy Morris, Founder and Artistic Director Create Kids Fest hosted its inaugural festival in 2019, presenting over 20 artists and art organizations, across 2 venues to the Calgary Community. Family friendly, fuss-friendly, accessible and multi-generational, the initial success of the festival sparked the creation of a non-profit society governed by a volunteer Board to expand our reach into the Calgary community and beyond. Create Kids Fest produces events big and small throughout the year featuring music, dance, storytelling, and theatre. These events are geared towards engaging young children and their families in multidisciplinary and interactive art experiences facilitated by Calgary professional artists. As an organization we have remained nimble and responsive, adapting readily to the needs and interests of our community. We are always looking to pair with new venues, artists, funding opportunities and love new ideas. A natural curiosity and creativity is welcomed! As a small organization there is lots of room for new ideas and energy! Your contributions will be highly valued! Create Values • To create, develop and implement arts festivals for kids and families in Calgary. • To ensure that the festivals and programs put on by Create allow children to experience the arts in a comfortable environment. • Strive to provide art experiences that are accessible for all children in Calgary. • To provide educational experiences for younger generations to learn about event production and art creation to develop a life-long appreciation of the arts. • Develop opportunities for intergenerational community building, cultural awareness and emotional intelligence through art experiences. Director of Marketing Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Develop content, monitor communications and keep the social media accounts for Create Kids Fest engaging and relevant to Calgary and area families • Create and implement event marketing strategies alongside the Artistic Director • Provide a high level of customer service including building strong relationships with members and potential members, event goers and volunteers • Conduct in-person outreach at events, including planning and coordination of outreach. • Help update the Create website alongside the Board Chair, Artistic Director and delegate website update volunteers as needed • Keeps members up to date on Create news and events through newsletters Qualifications • Strong communication, writing and organizational skills • Knowledge of social media, email marketing, and website editing platforms • 1-3 years of experience in marketing roles
Additional Details & Skills Required
The Director of Marketing can expect to attend a monthly Board Meeting, approximately 1 hour long, in addition to 1-6 hours per month of self directed volunteer work.
Certification or Education Required
We are looking for an outgoing and social candidate with strong communication and writing skills. If you are unafraid of creating new friendships and connections, are a great motivator, and passionate about the youth arts scene in Calgary this position is for you.
