Peer Mentor Volunteer

Mentors plays a key role in ensuring the home feels safe, supportive, comfortable and livable for everyone.  Honouring the experience of residents and the work of the team, mentors will walk alongside Moms living at Elizabeth House to offer support in whatever way is needed on the day of mentors’ shift. Mentors will be scheduled shifts in teams of two.  
Resident Support 
•	Assist with the care of infants as needed and within the protocols of the program
•	Support residents in system navigation – i.e. filling out forms, etc
•	Facilitate in-house recreational activities 
•	Accompany Mom and/or Baby to appointments or on errands
•	Prepare good food for and with Moms and babies
•	Connect Moms and babies to fun activities in the community 
•	Support cohesion and healthy group dynamics in the home
•	Engage with residents from a trauma informed perspective 
•	Reinforce the outcomes identified in the residents’ care plan and learning from external supports
•	Support staff in their management of urgent situations that may arise
•	Support the safety and security of the household in accordance with program guidelines
