Communications Support Volunteer

7-14 hours / weekly

Commitment: 1-2 days per week

Purpose:  This position is perfect for someone eager to make meaningful contributions to our charity’s communications strategies. You will play a key role in raising awareness about epilepsy, connecting with the community, and spreading the positive impact that the Epilepsy Association of Calgary (EAC) is making.

Role Overview: The Communications Support Volunteer assists the team in enhancing our communication and outreach efforts. This role involves creating and managing social media posts, contributing to the quarterly Brain Buzz Newsletter, and providing communications support for  events and fundraising campaigns. The volunteer will work closely with the Executive Director and Manager of Development & Engagement to ensure consistent and effective communication with our audience.

Responsibilities:
•	Create and schedule social media posts to promote events, awareness, and fundraising initiatives
•	Assist in the production and distribution of the quarterly Brain Buzz Newsletter
•	Support the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns
•	Design promotional materials using Canva
•	Assist with routine and ad-hoc administrative tasks to support the communications team

Candidate Profile:
•	Education and/or experience in communications/marketing
•	Experience with social media platforms and content creation
•	Proficiency in Canva, Adobe, or similar design tools
•	Strong written communication skills
•	Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
•	Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
•	Interest in, or experience volunteering within the not-for-profit sector

Working Environment:
•	Flexible – Office environment and volunteer from home options
Certification or Education Required
•	Education and/or experience in communications/marketing
