Research Assistant
About Us: Hakili Community for Sustainable Development is a Canadian charity based in Calgary, AB. As a black-led volunteer organization, we are dedicated to empowering marginalized communities and addressing inter-generational poverty through community empowerment. Our child-centric programming provides enrichment opportunities for children and youth while supporting parents, aiming to create sustainable change. Purpose: The Research Assistant will support our efforts to understand and address intergenerational poverty in Calgary and beyond. This role involves conducting research projects under the guidance of trained researchers, making it ideal for someone passionate about social issues and community development. Responsibilities: Surveying Communities: Conduct surveys to gather data on community experiences with poverty. Literature Reviews: Perform literature reviews to support research projects. Data Reporting: Report collected data to team leads and assist in writing comprehensive reports. Team Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with team members to execute data collection and research activities. Qualifications: Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks. Previous research experience is an asset but not required. Proficiency in MS Office 365 and familiarity with data analysis tools is a plus. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
