L'Arche Association of Calgary

L’Arche Calgary creates community for people with developmental disabilities and people who support them. This community provides a place where everyone belongs and has a voice. It provides social support, nurtures spiritual life and builds self-confidence which gives people with developmental disabilities the ability to interact with others and contribute their part to society.

At the core of L’Arche is the belief that what truly changes us is the power of loving and mutual relationships. Every person deserves and longs to be loved and to find a place where they truly belong. Our abilities, or disabilities, do not make this any more or less true. So, while we do provide services for people, our success is found in creating community. Many of our activities center around time together: celebrations, meals, chores, and conversations.
Our experience proves that when community and relationships are strong, people with disabilities thrive and contribute significantly.
