The New Gallery requires auditors for 2024/25 Financials

As a charitable society, every year The New Gallery holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM) to report back to our membership on the past year's events and present our annual review engagement financial statements. We are looking for two volunteer auditors to review these statements in advance of the AGM. Please email us with your CV and qualifications. The successful applicants must be members in good standing to be nominated to audit this year's financials at our upcoming Special General Meeting. Membership can be purchased for $10. 

The overall time commitment is between 10-15 hours, and will require a brief introductory conversation outlining the volunteer commitment sometime in March-April 2025, an in-person meeting for the actual audit, and some e-mail correspondence and work reviewing financial materials on your own time in advance of and after the audit. This work will take place in June 2025, with the in-person meeting happening on an agreeable date for both auditors. Attendance at the AGM in late June 2025 is ideal if possible.

ABOUT US:
The New Gallery (TNG) is an artist-run centre located in Mohkinstsis, also known as Calgary, on the ancestral and traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region in Southern Alberta. This charitable centre for contemporary art was established in 1975 as the Clouds & Water Gallery and Visual Production Society.

Currently, TNG operates:

Main Space — an exhibition venue in a storefront of the historic Canton Block in Calgary Chinatown
Billboard 208 — a programming site situated on the exterior of TNG’s storefront
Resource Centre — a combined library/archive and flexible meeting space
Main Frame — an online platform for web-based projects

These venues support the research, creation, and exhibition of socially relevant and politically informed creative practices from artists at all junctures of their careers, while enabling a public engagement with artist-run culture and contemporary art. TNG’s programming comprises a broad range of art and educational activities, including exhibitions, publications, residencies, offsite projects, and community collaborations that serve to invigorate audiences’ experience of contemporary art and culture.

TNG gratefully acknowledges its home on the traditional territories of the people of the Treaty 7 region, including the Blackfoot Confederacy (Kainai, Piikani and Siksika), Métis Nation of Alberta Region III, Stoney Nakoda First Nation (Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Wesley), and Tsuu T’ina First Nation. TNG would also like to acknowledge the many other First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have crossed this land for generations.
