Board Chair, Human Resources

P.L.A.Y Community Child Development Centre is looking for a volunteer with experience in Human Resources or Employment Law to act as Board Chair, Human Resources. This position will be appointed by the sitting Board of Directors for a 1-year term, however volunteers wishing to remain for additional terms are valued. The Centre is located in Calgary, Alberta. Responsibilities of this role include: - Attending monthly board meetings (virtual, evenings). - Sharing expertise and collaborating with the leadership team in the development and maintenance of human resources-related policies and procedures. - Assisting the Executive Director as-needed with matters relating to human resources, including but not limited to: performance management, employee relations, and compliance with relevant laws and standards. - Leading recruitment/hiring of an Executive Director should the need arise; supporting hiring for leadership team positions as needed. - Acting as an impartial resource for staff and parents should they wish to communicate feedback/concerns which are unable to be addressed by the leadership team. The Human Resources Director has historically committed to annual employee engagement sessions, however there is flexibility and support for how this is accomplished.
Certification or Education Required
Education or professional experience in Human Resources or Employment law required.
