RUTH'S HOUSE

Ruth's House is a safe haven for those experiencing domestic violence and abuse in the African Community. Our vision is to break the cycle of abuse in the African Community. Our mission is to provide support for the whole family.
Ruth's House is the first ethnocultural organization, focusing on addressing the norms and processes that inadvertently exclude or marginalize our community because our needs and concerns differ from other groups, we are addressing domestic violence from within our community; bridging the gap between us and existing service providers, and responding with a proactive plan to address this social issue from a place of culture, traditions, and barrier removal.
Our services are centred around our faiths, culture and values, and the Canadian system, and using the ‘village’ concept, we have formed a village of collaborative partnerships with over fifty community groups, religious groups, community service providers, and relevant government agencies. Members of our community experiencing abuse can access counselling, therapy, an emergency shelter, outreach programs, and education.
