Community Services are the Backbone of St. John Ambulance

First Aid training and Community Service Volunteers are the cornerstone of St John Ambulance.

Funds from training go back into your community through the work of our Community Service Volunteers. St. John Ambulance Community Services are comprised of First Aid services at community gatherings, sporting and recreational events throughout the province. St John volunteers are trained to high standards and participate in a variety of volunteer programs. St. John Alberta core community services include:

First Aid Response
First Aid Volunteers are trained to the level of Medical First Responder – a one week course that covers more advanced knowledge and skills than the Standard First Aid prerequisite.

You participate by attending sporting events, festivals, concerts, and other community events and provide First Aid as needed It’s also a great way to meet new friends, develop leadership skills, help people, help your community, and have fun.

Therapy Dog Program
A Therapy Dog team is made up of handler and their dog. After an evaluation to see if the dog is a match for the program, the successful teams receive an orientation and then visit their selected site. The commitment is for a regular visit at the chosen site determined by the handler and the community services coordinator. The time just flies by, according to our volunteers.

Child Safety Seat Program
Volunteers deliver a free two- hour session to parents and / or caregivers on the occupant restraint law in Alberta and how to install your child’s safety seat properly.
