🎶 Volunteer Instrumentalist Wanted – Share the Gift of Music with Individuals Living with Dementia 🎶
Are you a musician with a heart for helping others? We’re looking for compassionate instrumentalists to bring the healing power of music to residents in our memory care community—individuals living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Why Music? Music taps into deep emotional memories and often remains intact even when other abilities fade. A simple melody can spark a smile, a tap of the foot, or even a moment of joyful recognition. Your playing could create real, meaningful moments of connection. What We’re Looking For: • You play a calming and/or familiar instrument (guitar, piano/keyboard, violin, flute, etc.) • You are comfortable playing solo for small groups or one-on-one • You are patient, warm, and able to engage respectfully with older adults • Experience with dementia is a plus but not required—we’ll guide you! What You’ll Do: • Play live music for residents in memory care (secured dementia floor) • Create a peaceful, joyful atmosphere • Engage with residents in a gentle, encouraging way • Make someone’s day—simply by showing up and sharing your gift This is more than a volunteer role, it’s an opportunity to make a deep, lasting impact through the universal language of music. Ready to play your part? Location: The Manor Village at Varsity. Seniors Retirement Community. Time Commitment: 1 hour a week / 1 hour every other week / 1 hour every 3 weeks / 1 hour once a month. Whatever time commitment you have available.
