🐾 Volunteer with Your Friendly Pet – Bring Joy to Those Living with Dementia 🐾

40 Varsity Estates Circle NW, Calgary, AB, T3A 2H2 [map]
Ongoing
Do you have a gentle, well-behaved pet that loves people? Are you looking for a way to brighten someone’s day? We’re inviting volunteers and their friendly animals to visit with residents living with dementia in our memory care community.
Why Animals?
For individuals with memory loss, the presence of a calm, affectionate animal can be incredibly soothing. Animals often spark smiles, conversation, and fond memories—sometimes even when words fail. Your pet’s visit might be the best part of someone’s day.
What You’ll Do:
•	Visit with residents alongside your friendly dog (or another appropriate animal)
•	Provide gentle, safe interaction—petting, cuddling, or simply being present
•	Bring moments of joy, comfort, and connection
•	Help reduce anxiety and foster a sense of peace
We’re Looking for:
•	Volunteers with friendly, well-mannered animals (dogs must be always leashed and under control)
•	Pets that are calm, clean, and good with people
•	Individuals who are kind, patient, and comfortable in a memory care environment
•	Proof of current vaccinations (required)
•	Therapy animal certification is a plus, but not required
Whether your dog wags its tail at everyone, or your bunny is the picture of calm, your visits can create meaningful, unforgettable moments.

Location: The Manor Village at Varsity. Seniors Retirement Community.
Time Commitment: 1 hour a week / 1 hour every other week / 1 hour every 3 weeks / 1 hour once a month. Whatever time commitment you have available

When: Weekday mornings / Weekday afternoons / Weekday evenings / Weekend mornings / Weekend afternoons
