The committee’s responsibilities include: • Community Outreach: Develop and implement strategies to engage diverse communities, with particular focus on seniors, intergenerational groups, caregivers, filmmakers, cinephiles, and other relevant audiences. • Partnership Development: Identify and establish partnerships with organizations, educational institutions, and businesses that align with the festival's values and objectives. • Event Support: Collaborate on community-focused events, discussions, and panels to promote the festival and encourage participation. • Public Relations: Help raise awareness of the festival through outreach efforts, community presentations, and participation in local events and festivals. • Feedback and Improvement: Collect community feedback and use it to recommend improvements to festival programming and outreach strategies. KEY DUTIES Advise the board and festival staff on potential community partnerships and resources that align with THIRD ACTion’s mission and target audience. Act as ambassadors, promoting the festival within their networks to raise awareness and support for THIRD ACTion’s mission. Assist in planning community engagement events before and during the festival to build community involvement and enhance festival visibility. Align community outreach efforts with THIRD ACTion’s marketing and communications strategies. Identify opportunities for community members to engage with the festival through volunteer roles or special events that reflect the festival's mission. Propose additional community initiatives, with the understanding that new initiatives will be reviewed by the Board for alignment with THIRD ACTion’s strategic priorities and resource availability. Recommendations/Decisions will be made by consensus whenever possible, with a majority vote used if consensus cannot be reached. The committee and its members may represent the festival at designated community engagement events, as directed by the Board. APPOINTMENT TO THE COMMITTEE All members are appointed by the Board for a one-year term, with an option to renew. Reappointment is based on the member’s contributions and alignment with the festival’s goals. MEETINGS The committee meets monthly (10x per year) or more frequently as needed. Members may attend meetings in person or through virtual means as appropriate. A quorum will be established when at least half of the committee members are present. The Chair ensures that meeting proceedings are documented and shared with the Board Secretary. The Chair will report to the festival board on a monthly basis, summarizing activities, partnerships, and community engagement outcomes.
