Fund Development Researcher

PROGRAM: Fund Development POSITION TYPE Volunteer HOURS OF DEDICATION: 3 hours per week plus monthly 1.5 Fund Development Committee meeting; occasional evening and weekend time will be required throughout the calendar year, particularly during the THIRD ACTion film festival in the month of June. POSITION SUMMARY: This position will support the Fund Development team’s fund development research, data recording, data reporting and administrative functions. This individual must be detail oriented and goal driven. A streak of creativity and a dash of enthusiasm working with others makes you an ideal candidate. REPORTS TO: Fund Development Coordinator RESPONSIBILITIES • Works closely with and provides weekly database updates to Fund Development Coordinator for opportunity follow-ups. • Participate in THIRD ACTion’s annual fund development operational plan deliverables. • Take initiative to research, identify and apply for fund development opportunities that are aligned with THIRD ACTion’s mission, vision and values. • Work with the internet, publications, and social media platforms such as LinkedIn to research potential sponsors and donors. • Track research results in data-base systems and provide monthly reporting (prior to monthly Board Meeting) to support the achievement of fund development targets. • Accountable for tracking donor relations including stewardship. • Participate in THIRD ACTion fundraising events throughout the year in a professional manner that fosters positive experiences with our donors. • Organize donor/sponsor data, documentation and reporting. • Track event and external relationships (vendors, donors, sponsors, etc.) in CiviCRM. • Assist with identifying environmental trends, gathering data from target markets and bringing forward recommendations. • Other duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS • Post-secondary Degree or College Diploma (Business Administration or Project Management). • Minimum of combined 1 year experience in research and/or data mining. • Strong project management and analytical skills. • Strong research skills. • Strong administrative skills with a high attention to detail. • Ability to exercise good judgement, discretion, confidentiality and professionalism. • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Good communication skills coupled with the ability to interact within all levels of staff and volunteers. • Demonstrated competence in verbal, written and computer-based communication styles. • Excellent computer skills including Google (Sheets, Mail and Docs), Zoom, database systems (experience with civiCRM or SalesForce or monday.com would be considered an asset). You will develop fundraising and research skills. You will be given tickets to our films and invited to join our other volunteers. We often go out afterward as well. We have a volunteer appreciation party after the festival. Some of the work can be done remotely on your own time. Some meetings are required.
