Volunteer Coordinator (in-person, Calgary-based)

Commitment: 8-12 hours per month (in-person, Calgary-based) Overview: Ups and Downs is looking for 2-3 Volunteer Coordinators to help develop and manage our new Volunteer Program, working directly with our Executive Director and Program Coordinator. This role is based in Calgary and will require in-person involvement to support events and volunteer coordination. Responsibilities: Recruit volunteers through various in-person and online methods. Track volunteer information, commitments, and requirements. Arrange in-person training sessions when necessary. Manage schedules for daily activities and ensure smooth volunteer operations during events. Assign responsibilities and oversee volunteer tasks at in-person events. Maintain frequent communication with Event Coordinators and volunteers. Foster a positive, in-person working environment to ensure volunteer satisfaction. Support volunteer development through face-to-face discussions and constructive feedback. Identify and mentor volunteers for higher-level roles, such as Volunteer Leads or Organization Coordinators. Track volunteer hours and performance during in-person events. Provide ongoing feedback to the Ups and Downs office on the program, training needs, and volunteer requirements. Time Commitment: The majority of the commitment will take place during the Ups and Downs event season (September-June), with regular in-person involvement required. Email communication and inquiries should be responded to promptly. The role offers flexibility but will involve in-person attendance based on event schedules.
Certification or Education Required
All education is an asset.
