Social Media Coordinator

3-5 hours / weekly

Sawa World is looking for a Social Media Coordinator who will be responsible for managing the organization's online presence and connecting our international audience with the community in Uganda through various social media platforms. This role plays a vital part in promoting the organization's activities, building brand awareness, and increasing participation and support. The successful candidate will be creative, tech-savvy, and have a passion for connecting with all audiences through digital channels.

Main Duties
Social Media Management
- Manage and maintain the organization's social media accounts, including but not limited 
  to Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.

Content Creation and Scheduling
- In alignment with Sawa World’s Social Media Strategy, develop creative and engaging 
  content that resonates with the organization's target audience, emphasizing youth-related 
  initiatives, success stories, and upcoming events.
- Plan and schedule posts, ensuring a consistent and strategic social media presence.
- Respond to comments and engage with followers promptly.
- Manage a repository of common questions asked and answers to ensure business 
  continuity and brand consistency.

Campaigns and Paid Advertising 
- Coordinate online campaigns that support Sawa World’s brand awareness and 
  fundraising efforts (managing the creation, execution and budget of all paid social media).

Community Building
- Foster a sense of community among the organization's online followers, encouraging 
  participation, discussions, and the sharing of user-generated content.

Collaboration
- Collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure that social media efforts align 
  with the organization's overall goals and messages.

Stay Current
- Stay updated on social media trends, algorithms, and best practices, making 
  recommendations for improvements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing social media accounts for non-profit organizations or 
  similar social enterprises.
- Advanced skills using social media management tools and platforms.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with an understanding of online communication and 
  youth-oriented language.
- Strong design skills and experience with graphic design software (e.g., Canva, Adobe 
  Creative Suite) for creating social media content.
- Willingness to develop a good understanding of the youth culture and issues facing 
  young people in Uganda.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  initiatives and values.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team 
  members.
