Team Leader for Volunteers

Ongoing
The Aquatic Biosphere Society of Canada is looking for a leader to help us engage and deploy volunteers across a variety of programs, events and services. This is a volunteer position for someone who loves to connect with people, who is a community builder.

As the heart of the volunteer collective, you will help the Society to build a pool of volunteers, get them signed into activities, events, and programs. This is a program that needs help in getting current volunteers re-activated, and adding new people who are interested.

This is primarily a virtual opportunity as the Society has a variety of online and digital tools in place to gather help across Canada and around the world. You will be part of building a revitalized community to help with outreach, events, activities, conservation work, public connections and more.

The Society is committed to DEI practices and collaborative efforts are in our DNA. The time commitment can range, but you can expect to spend roughly 2-6 hours per week once up and running.

Requirements:
* You must be already comfortable using video chats, online chats/discussion boards, project management software a bonus but we will train you if not;
* Effective communication skills - English fluency in speaking, reading, writing is required. Second languages welcome;
* Comfortable to reach out to new people, follow up on inquiries;
* Prior experience on chat boards or forums as an administrator is an asset;
* Reside in Canada, an asset if that happens to be in Western Canada.

This is a new position for the organisation, so you have the opportunity to build something amazing from the ground up. You will have the assistance of the Board and other volunteers as we build this out, but its success will be a reflection of you and your efforts.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
In addition to joining an amazing group of people with a deep passion for everything that lives in, on and around water, you will be building and growing skills in:
* leadership
* public speaking
* organising
* mentoring
* communications
* community building & networking
* new friends

As a virtual operation, you will work within your time for the most part and within your environment where you are most comfortable.
