COBS Bread Driver (Updated with New Hours)

1-3 hours / monthly
5 months preferred (or longer)
Our weekly COBS Bread program helps make fresh bread accessible to families in our community. We’re looking for volunteers to help us keep this valued service running smoothly!

Volunteer Roles Available:

1. COBS Bread Driver
Pick up the bread from COBS (South Ellerslie location) on Sunday evening (6:55pm)
Deliver it to Belvedere Community Hall (13223 62 St NW).
Sort and bag the bread and pastries. This usually takes 20 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the weekly quantity and your preferred pace.
Tidy the area before leaving, and feel free to take home some bread and pastries as a thank-you for your time and support.
πŸ•’ Time Commitment: Approximately 1-2 hours on Sunday evening, once per month.
πŸ“… Schedule: Choose how many Sundays per month you’d like to volunteer (1–4 times). *Note: We are currently looking for drivers who can commit to the first Sunday evening of each month.

2. Back-Up Driver Volunteer
If one of our regularly scheduled bread drivers cannot make their volunteer shift, you will be contacted. This is an on-call basis with as much warning given as possible (one week to 2 hours in advance).
πŸ•’ Time Commitment: 1-2 hours on a Sunday, on an on-call basis (typically once every couple of months).
If you are interested or would like more information, email Nikki at nikki@kara-frc.ca
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
A meaningful way to give back – You’re directly helping families in the community access fresh bread and pastries every week.

A short, flexible commitment – Just 1–2 hours on a Sunday evening, with the option to choose how often you volunteer.

A simple, independent role – Perfect for people who like low-pressure tasks, working at their own pace, and seeing the immediate impact of their efforts.

A small thank-you treat – Enjoy taking home some bread and pastries after your shift.
