Evening Front Host- Red Deer
Purpose: To provide support to Family Services staff through a variety of administrative and daily House tasks. Duties & Responsibilities : -Provides friendly first point of contact for the House and greets families, visitors, volunteers, staff, and donors -Answers the phone and responds to frequent questions and/or connects caller to the appropriate staff member -Supports Family Services in checking families in & out, providing tours, and supporting other stakeholders signing in -Handles occasional monetary transactions -Greets donors, records donation information, and provides introductory stewardships -Supports Program Supervisor through stewarding Helping Hands and Home for Dinner groups when required Time Requirements: -Shifts are scheduled in 4-hour blocks, seven days a week - 5pm-9pm -Volunteers will schedule themselves for shifts through Volunteer Hub -A minimum of 1 shift per week for 1 year is required Skills & Qualifications: -Friendly, professional, flexible, and responsible -Ability to understand a variety of people and respond to their individual needs -Ability to work well under pressure and adapt in a constantly evolving environment -Excellent interpersonal and communication skills -Ability to maintain confidentiality -Strong administration/reception skills, including accuracy and attention to detail, phone, and computer skills -Ability to multi-task and comfortable seeking out staff support when needed -Must be 18 years of age and older -Previous experience working with databases considered an asset Challenges of Position: -Requires flexibility and adaptability depending on needs of the House -Shift business may change depending on the needs of the House and families -Due to the nature of family stays, no one is permitted in the House while sick or have family members who have a contagious illness -Maintaining a professional and personal balance -Working closely with families in an emotionally challenging environment Success Measures: -Families report that they have an overall feeling of support and compassion while staying at the House -All House visitors are supported and dealt with in a friendly, compassionate, and supportive manner -Accurate and timely information is reported to Family Services -Demands on House staff are reduced Volunteer will work with: Children, families, volunteers, staff, sponsors, and the public Orientation & Training: -House orientation to review RMHCA (Ronald McDonald House CharitiesĀ® Alberta) policies, protocols, general information, and purpose and mandate of the organization -2-3 Shadow shifts to go over program and provide role specific training House tour Ongoing training will be provided as needed Screening: -Application -Interview -Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening -Reference Checks Reports to: Family Services Lead Location: Ronald McDonald House CharitiesĀ© Alberta Closing Date Until Filled
