St. Michael's Extended Care Centre
St. Michael's Health Group is a healthcare organization that provides long term care, supportive housing, as well as programs and services to the seniors of our community. We are a Christian voluntary organization with an entrepreneurial spirit, dedicated to the provision of wellness-focused holistic care and community services to all with love and dignity. Incorporated in 1976 under St. Michael's Extended Care Centre Society, it was originally created to meet an urgent and growing need for institutional nursing care for individuals of various ethnic backgrounds in the Edmonton area.
With the evolution of our healthcare system, and the needs of our aging population changing, St. Michael's expanded and diversified. The organization now offers several levels of care and housing in multiple facilities, a variety of programs on and off site and in communities within and outside of Edmonton. The group also owns and operates several business ventures to help sustain the operations of the corporation: St. Michael's Long Term Care Centre, Millennium Pavilion Senior's Lodge, Vegreville Manor (Vegreville), Grove Manor (Spruce Grove), Adult Day Support Program, Family Health Centre, Mobile X-ray, Heritage Hall and Catering and Baba's Own Ukrainian Food.
Residents of all of our facilities are encouraged to participate in community and civic life. Involvement of families in visits, family conferences, recreational activities and spiritual programs are valued, as are the contributions to the residents' quality of life made by our volunteers.
We welcome all volunteers who are reliable, punctual, responsible, enthusiastic, willing to work under the guidance of their assigned supervisor, and sensitive to the needs of the elderly. Please note that you must be 14 years of age or older to volunteer. We look forward to meeting you!
