Project Manager of Communications - Join the STEAMistic Communications Team!

We are looking for high-school and University students to join our team!

Join the STEAMistic Communications team & help us create STEAM awareness to children and youth in Edmonton and Calgary!

The project manager - social media position is responsible for managing STEAMistic’s social media pages. This includes regularly updating the social media pages (via creating project update posts, awareness/informative posts, and videos on the STEAMistic YouTube channel), and communicating directly with followers. 

The project manager - website and blog position is responsible for managing STEAMistic’s website and blog pages. This includes regularly updating the STEAMistic website, creating pitch/topic lists for blogs, managing the subscriber list, and writing and editing blog posts.

Responsibilities (for both roles) include:
- Attending weekly meetings chaired by the Director(s) of Communications;
- Promoting STEAMistic initiatives regularly; 
- Creating promotional materials for outreach purposes; and
- Collaborating with the activities & research team to create informative videos for the STEAMistic YouTube channel.

This role is best suited for individuals looking to develop/improve graphic designing and marketing experience, gain experience managing several social media pages, and has a passion for promoting STEAM educational opportunities. Highly motivated, organized, creative and responsible individuals will be most successful in this position.

STEAMistic is a youth-led initiative that aims to distribute STEAM-related educational materials & activities to youth from low SES backgrounds across Edmonton & Calgary. Our goal is to ignite curiosity among the youth, help them build innovation, leadership skills and critical thinking skills.

Provide accessible STEAM education & activities to young people across Edmonton; to encourage innovative, scientific imagination; and to foster an interest in STEAM among young people.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
This opportunity will provide volunteers with the chance to work alongside like-minded individuals to deliver STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programming to children and youth. Volunteers will gain experience planning and leading social media campaigns, several opportunities to develop and improve marketing/graphic design skills and organizational skills. At STEAMistic, all volunteers will receive a reference letter highlighting their contributions.
