Science Workshop Host - Join the STEAMistic Calgary Instructions Team!

We are looking for high-school and University students to join our Calgary team!

The Project Manager - Instruction position entails working with a small group of volunteers to host in-person STEAM workshops at collaborating organizations. Volunteers must be located in Calgary and arrange transportation to the collaborating organization. This is an in person position.

Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly meetings chaired by the Director(s) of Instruction; and
- Responsible for setting up and leading in-person STEAM workshops, and clean-up afterward.

This role is best suited for individuals looking to develop/improve public speaking skills, gain teaching experience and leadership experience, experience serving children & youth, and has a passion for promoting STEAM educational opportunities. Highly motivated, organized, punctual, and responsible individuals will be most successful in this position. 

ABOUT US
STEAMistic is a youth-led initiative that aims to distribute STEAM-related educational materials & activities to youth from low SES backgrounds across Edmonton & Calgary. Our goal is to ignite curiosity among the youth, help them build innovation, leadership skills and critical thinking skills.

Provide accessible STEAM education & activities to young people across Edmonton; to encourage innovative, scientific imagination; and to foster an interest in STEAM among young people.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
This opportunity will provide volunteers with the chance to work alongside like-minded individuals to deliver STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) programming to children and youth. Volunteers will gain experience planning and leading STEAM workshops, several opportunities to develop and improve public speaking skills, hone leadership skills and organizational skills. At STEAMistic, all volunteers will receive a reference letter highlighting their contributions.
