About Our Organization

Young Mind’s Eye (YME) is a not-for-profit organization aiming to provide educational services to the underprivileged population. Our Organization originally started as our student group Help Young Minds at the University of Alberta. We now focus on establishing our organization on a national scale to serve more youths out there. At YME, we strive to work together as a team, support each other and push each of our programs forward to impact our community.

Position Summary

The Chair of Outbranch Expansion is part of the Young Minds Board. This position involves a high level of leadership, building and managing team on top of policy development. The Chair of Outbranch Expansion works directly with the Chair of In-branch Expansion in overseeing the operation of the Young Minds Eye Foundation from all aspects internally and externally.

Key Responsibilities:
- Governance: Ensures that the organization adheres to its mission, vision, and values, and operates in compliance with legal and ethical standards.

- Strategic Oversight: Contributes to the development and approval of the organization’s strategic plan and long-term goals.

- Financial Oversight: Reviews and approves budgets, financial statements, and major financial decisions to ensure the organization remains financially healthy.

- Policy Setting: Establishes policies and guidelines that govern the organization's operations and management.

- Performance Monitoring: Evaluates the performance of the organization and its executive leadership, often including interviewing and hiring new executive members. 

- Fundraising and Networking: Assists in raising funds, building relationships, and leveraging their networks to support the organization’s mission.

Engagement:

Meetings: Attends regular board meetings and participates in committee work, as needed.

Communication: Engages in open and transparent communication with fellow board members, staff, and stakeholders.

Advocacy: Acts as an ambassador for the organization, promoting its mission and values within their own networks and the wider community.
