Are you a dynamic individual who enjoys interacting with and providing support to seniors? Join us as a part-time companion volunteer and make a positive impact on the lives of our residents. Mealtime companions play a vital role in enhancing the dining experience through social interaction and supportive care.

Position Summary: As a Mealtime Companion Volunteer, you will offer companionship, lead mealtime activities, and provide support to seniors during meal programs. Your presence and empathy will contribute to their overall well-being, bringing comfort and a sense of purpose.

Responsibilities:
Companionship: Spend quality time with residents, and engage in meaningful tabletop conversations.
Preparation Activity: Lead meal prep activities; assisting resident volunteers and the care team in setting tables, tabletop TALKs, and clearing plates.
Supportive Care: Provide gentle and compassionate support, ensuring residents feel safe and comforted during mealtime. Adapt meal preparation activities for those with memory care needs, using alternative methods and providing clear directions and reminders.
Collaborative Efforts: Coordinate with the facility's hospitality manager and recreation manager to enhance mealtime care services.

Qualifications:
Compassionate and empathetic, with a genuine interest in caring for seniors.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to lead and facilitate groups of people during activities.
Patience and sensitivity in interacting with residents of varying abilities and cognitive levels.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet diverse resident needs.
Previous experience in mealtime care, caregiving, or working with seniors is beneficial but not required.
A vulnerable sector check and proof of COVID-19 vaccination are mandatory.
