Cycling Pilot/Bike Buddy - Burlington

Cycling Without Age is a world-wide initiative that provides people with mobility issues (whether young or not-so-young) an opportunity to once again to get out into nature. Cyclists will receive orientation and be trained on our 3 wheel e-assist bikes called trishaws. After completing training, cyclists be taking seniors on rides (up to an hour) from nine possible starting points in Hamilton and Burlington. Cyclists will also take a turn as bike buddies, riding ahead of the trishaw to lead the trishaw on an approved route. Cycling opportunities are weekday business-hour time frames, training is provided during weekdays only. Role is most suitable for individuals with weekday/daytime availability.
Additional Details & Skills Required
-must complete indoor and outdoor training successfully -volunteer commitment is 2 hours twice a month between May and October
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Volunteers have an opportunity to give back to the community by cycling outdoors with passengers along beautiful multi use trails and low volume roads in beautiful parts of Hamilton (including Dundas), and on the waterfront in Burlington. Weekly rides typically start at retirement or LTC homes. An experienced volunteer cyclists will ride the trishaw to the starting point each day. Volunteer cyclists typically sign up for 2 hours at a time at one of the locations.
