Want to help people and animals in a direct and meaningful way? Consider serving on our Board of Directors! We are a small grassroots volunteer-powered charity. We believe the human-animal bond improves quality of life for both humans and animals, and results in healthier, happier communities.

Positions (volunteer): Chair/Mentor, Vice Chair, Secretary, Board Members.
Organization: Four Paws Food Bank Foundation (FPFBF).
Location: Kamloops preferred, some virtual possible.

About Us
We are a registered charity in Kamloops, BC. Our services are focussed on helping keep companion animals with their families through crises which might otherwise result in permanent surrender of animals. In other words, we work to support the wellbeing of animals and their humans.

Why we are opening these Board opportunities
FPFBF is inviting compassionate, skilled and strategic-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors in a variety of volunteer Board Member roles (excluding Treasurer). We are opening several opportunities to help us gain the best possible match with applicants, and to broaden our team’s skillsets and perspectives.
•	Do you have experience as a member of a non-profit Board of Directors, and a passion for mentoring? Consider a short-term role as Chair and provide a legacy in helping our team shift to a Policy Board model, while working closely with our Executive Director!
•	Are you interested in the Chair position, but not quite yet? Maybe you are a great candidate for our Vice-Chair Role!
•	Do you love the detail involved in helping teams document commitments and keep digital files organized? Maybe your perfect fit is the role of Secretary!
•	Is there a specific area of Board governance you would love to contribute? Tell us about it!

The FPFBF Board of Directors has been gifted a private donation specifically for a full time paid Executive Director for 1-3 years! In preparation for this, we invited a review and recommendations from governance experts. We are now committed to shifting and growing our Board of Directors from an Operational Board to a Policy Board. We aim to strengthen our longer-term governance, while working closely with our Executive Director (ED). We have an excellent start to this new and exciting road, and need some new members to help us build it!

This is an opportunity to help develop a dedicated team for an organization with a solid record of providing impactful service in our community!

The scope of responsibilities on our Board of Directors will include but are not limited to:

Strategic Oversight, Governance and Leadership:
•	Work in context of FPFBF’s existing Constitution, Bylaws, policies, programs, and needs.
•	Serve as an active advocate and ambassador for our organization.
•	Engage in building our new team, strategic plan and policies.
•	Collaborate with board and ED to confirm needs and act on securing resources (funding and other).

Key Relationships:
•	Foster collaboration among board members, and strengthen the Team Charter.
•	Engage with our full operational volunteer team in order to best understand who we are!
•	Communicate with your connections for the benefit of our financial resources, public awareness, and public policy.

Ability to work independently and in small teams:
•	As occasionally required, draft products independently and bring to Board for adoption.
•	Promote Board products, goals and needs through communication with partners.
•	Represent the organization in fundraising efforts or other priorities.

Please share which of the following you will bring.

Imagine volunteering with our organization, where our amazing volunteers, partners, and donors provide critical supports to keep pets and their families together!
Additional Details & Skills Required
We will onboard by providing our existing documents, our history, and the most pressing goals for the coming year. We will have consultant support for our first two meetings once our new team members are onboarded.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Contribute to building a strong new Governance Board, and helping take our organization to the next stage of community service. Work with us to identify both the skills you would like to have utilized, and the skills you would like to develop so we can help you succeed with both. We are a small organization with strong community, partner and client relationships, and a fantastic volunteer team for you to join.
