Speed Skating Event Volunteers - Team Relay Challenge
We have several positions open for volunteers for this one day event. Ideal for High School Students. Most roles are rink side in the cold part of the arena. Roles include: 1) Assistant Clerk - Help organize the skaters before the race 2) Timers - Good for mature students, with a good voice that can focus. Time the racers with a stop watch and call out the results. 3) Lap Counters - Help each relay team keep track of laps and call them out as they pass. 3) Water Bucket Filler - Fill and lift 5 gallon water buckets used to keep the ice smooth. 4) Hospitality Host - help prepare the food for the event volunteers 5) Runners - Carry skaters guards, coats, etc from the race entry point to the exit point. Or run race results for the meet coordinator. 6) Event Photographer - Must have your own camera. Take candid shots throughout the event and post them on social if possible. 7) Track Steward - On-ice position for experienced skaters to help maintain the ice surface.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
The event run for a full day from 7:30 am until 5 pm (or so) allowing students to get up to 10 hours of volunteer time in one day. Breakfast, Snacks and Lunch provided.
