Dance Buddy
Our Program The Dance Ability Movement is an inclusive dance program created to let everyone participate. Our classes are made to meet the needs of our students and create a positive and safe community for everyone to engage in. Each class has a certified dance teacher, an occupational therapist and a team of volunteers to help make our dancer’s dreams come true. As a Volunteer As a volunteer with the Dance Ability Movement, you will become a buddy with one or a group of dancers. Buddies work with the dancers and help to facilitate the activities the teacher is leading. We work with volunteers of all Dance Levels, beginner to expert, in our classes and put a focus on being a positive role model instead of being the best dancer. This is a very rewarding and skill building opportunity and we encourage our buddies to build relationships with one another to build a sense of community throughout the location. The Commitment & Scheduling Our classes typically run once per week from September/October to the end of May. In addition we run summer programming. Classes conclude with a recital to wrap our year up and highlight all the hard work we have put in. We will provide important dates to you at volunteer training to give you more information around dates where classes do or don’t run. The classes are usually 45 minutes in length and each of our locations offers a variety of classes and age groups. We ask that volunteers make the commitment for the whole season/session as dancers build connections with their buddies, but can be flexible upon request!
