Reading and writing are essential skills that make a difference in everyday lives. Since 1978, the I-CARE Adult Literacy Program at Douglas College has been dedicated to helping English-speaking adults improve these skills. Our learners come from diverse backgrounds and age groups.

Douglas College was the first community college in British Columbia to train volunteer tutors for adult literacy. Our dedicated volunteers meet with learners once a week to provide one-on-one support. Over the years, I-CARE has helped more than 800 adults enhance their basic reading and writing skills.
