3-3 hours / weekly
Minimum 3 Month Commitment
The Purpose Society is a non-profit social service agency whose mission is to deliver a continuum of social, health, educational and residential services. We started our Food Hamper program to support individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Each week, we provide approximately 100 food hampers, which feed approximately 450 people. See more information at: https://purposesociety.org/

Your help is needed to feed families in your community. We are seeking new volunteers to support our food hamper program for a two-hour commitment each week.

Each Monday, we receive a delivery of donated food through our partner agency, Dan's Legacy. The donated food is from local grocery stores and includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, breads, meat, and dairy products.

Volunteer Schedule: Mondays (1:30pm to 3:30pm)

As a volunteer, you would:
- Help unload the food items from the delivery truck into the kitchen.
- Assist with sorting fruit and vegetables into what we can include in our food hampers and what needs to be composted
- Check bread, pastries, deli and dairy products for expired dates to determine what we can share
- Work as a team with other volunteers and staff to ensure all donated items are sorted and ready for the food hampers.

You should be able to:
- Physically lift and move boxes of food, cans and other heavy food items (10-30 lbs.)

If you are interested in this opportunity, we'd love to connect with you.
