Content Researcher (Cyber Safety)

Ongoing
This volunteer helps CHS keep our awareness content accurate, current, and practical. You will scan reliable sources (government agencies, trusted nonprofits, platform safety pages, major news, and reputable research) to find credible statistics, emerging scam trends (sextortion patterns, impersonation, AI/deepfake fraud, phishing), and app safety updates (Snapchat/Instagram/TikTok privacy and reporting features). Then you’ll convert what you find into short, easy-to-use bullet briefs that our team can quickly turn into YouTube Shorts, posters, and webinar talking points.

What you’ll do (typical tasks)
Identify 3–5 relevant updates per week (or per content cycle).
Summarize each into a brief: “What happened / Why it matters / Who is at risk / What to do.”
Provide 1–3 key stats and source links for credibility.
Suggest 2–3 “hook” lines for Shorts (e.g., “New scam warning…”).
Flag misinformation, exaggerated claims, or risky wording.

Deliverable format (simple)
1-page doc or message per topic, e.g.:

Title

Key facts (bullets)
Recommended safety steps
Sources (links)
Content idea (Shorts/post angle)

Skills helpful
Strong internet research and judgment of source quality
Clear, concise writing
Interest in online safety / cyber awareness (no technical background required)

Time
Flexible: about 2–4 hours/week (or as available)

Impact
Your briefs directly power CHS content—making videos and posts more trustworthy, timely, and helpful for teens, women, and seniors.
Why should you volunteer for this opportunity?
Build a portfolio with real, published CHS content backed by your research. Learn how scams evolve and how to verify facts from trusted sources. Receive a volunteer certificate with tracked hours, plus a reference letter and LinkedIn recommendation (on request). Get recognition/credit if you want, work remotely with flexible timing, and grow into a Research/Content Quality Lead role. Most importantly, your work helps protect teens, women, and seniors online.
