Your Knowledge and Experience Will Make a Difference to our Clients Award winning Oakville Senior Citizens Residence (OSCR) is recruiting volunteer Board members and invite you to apply; we are particularly interested in candidates with legal, medical and/or finance backgrounds, but all disciplines are welcome. OSCR, located in beautiful historic Bronte, Oakville, is a client-focused organization with a strong sense of mission and vision towards the future. OSCR is the proud recipient of: • The Minister’s Medal, honouring Excellence in Health Quality and Safety; Team based Initiative/Program • The prestigious 3M National Health Care Quality Team Award for Programs and Processes in a Non-acute Environment • [A three-year Accreditation with CARF International for Assisted Living and Home Community Services programs in 2012, 2015, 2018, 2021 and in 2024.] In addition, OSCR acts as a social housing provider and property manager for the Region of Halton. Annually, OSCR serves approximately 425 clients in the community onsite and via the Supports for Daily Living (SDL) outreach program. Join our highly talented, diverse, and dedicated Board of Directors with existing work experience in various sectors and disciplines. Potential Board members must demonstrate a passion for maintaining a high standard of care towards OSCR clients, exercise skill and diligence in the best interest of OSCR and abide by existing governance regulations for non-profit organizations. The ideal candidate will possess experience in Board governance. The volunteer Board meets bi-monthly and participates in committee work, OSCR social events and fundraising activities. A thorough orientation program is provided, as well as ongoing governance education. Board Directors are elected to serve and hold office for a minimum of three (3) years, with a maximum of three one-year extensions.
